Isolation of the drought up—regulated gene in Alternanthera philoxeroides by differential display technique

Abstract Under drought stressadventitious roots of Alternanthera phfloxeroides seedlings will grow long thick fleshy rootswhich are assumed to improve performance of the plant by more eficient reservation and absorption of water from deep soil layersIn this studythe diferential display technique was used to clone morphogenesis—related genes from philoxeroides roots treated with droughtwhich would help to improve crop plants’ drought tolerance by transgenic methodby 1 5 pairs of primer combinationstwenty putative drought up regulated gene segments induced by drought were obtainedand one of them was confirmed by reverse northern blotand subsequently cloned and sequencedA homologous analysis revealed that it might be a new sequenceSemi-quantitative RT-PCR analysis showed that the gene was up regulated by drought and salt stress
